Adult Therapy for

Anxiety, Burnout & Overwhelm

Specialist therapy for anxiety, overwhelm, burnout and patterns that keep repeating

I offer specialist adult therapy for anxiety, burnout, overwhelm and stress, working with people who are highly capable, successful and self-aware but have reached a point where the way they've been coping no longer feels sustainable.

You've already had therapy, done the self-development work and understand yourself pretty well. But you're still finding yourself caught in the same loops overthinking, pushing yourself too hard, struggling to switch off, becoming overwhelmed or shutting down when everything gets too much.

You're starting to wonder how much longer you can keep performing at this level when you're running on empty. Work that you used to handle easily is taking more out of you. You're snapping at the people you love, withdrawing because you've got nothing left to give, or feeling guilty that everyone gets the exhausted version of you.

You've even found yourself wondering whether you need to walk away from the job, business or career you've worked so hard to build, not because you don't want it anymore, but because you don't know how much longer you can keep doing it like this. And the frustrating thing is, you're still functioning. Still delivering. Still achieving.

From the outside, you look like you've got it together. But you know something has to change. You don't want to blow up the life you've worked hard to create. You want to be able to live it without constantly feeling like you're surviving it.

My approach goes beyond helping you manage the symptoms. As a specialist therapist with expertise in the nervous system, survival and trauma responses, I help you understand what is driving the pattern so we can work with it, rather than repeatedly trying to override it. I offer therapy in person in Cheshire and online across the UK.

Why work with me?

You've already done a lot of the work. You understand yourself, your history and many of the patterns you fall into. The frustrating part is that knowing why something happens doesn't stop it from happening. You want to understand what's happening at a deeper level and know how to change it.

I'm Sarah Jones, a BACP Accredited psychotherapist and EMDR therapist specialising in anxiety, trauma, burnout and nervous system regulation. I'm also the creator of the Somatic Person-Centred Method™, an approach that brings together person-centred psychotherapy, somatic therapy and nervous system science.

I've spent over a decade specialising in the relationship between our emotional experiences, nervous system and the ways we adapt to survive difficult or overwhelming experiences.

I don't simply apply a set of techniques and hope something works. I understand what I'm looking for.

We look at the whole picture: what is a survival or trauma response, what is part of the way your individual brain is wired, what has developed through relationships and experience, and how those things interact.

Then I adapt the therapy to you.

What does somatic therapy mean?

Somatic therapy means we don't only work with what you think and understand. We also pay attention to what's happening in your body and nervous system. You can logically know that you're safe, capable or good enough while your body continues responding as though something is wrong or you're under threat. That's why insight alone doesn't always create change.

Working somatically allows us to understand those responses and work with your nervous system rather than continually trying to think, push or reason your way out of them. You don't need to identify as someone who has experienced trauma to work with me.

You're here because anxiety, overwhelm, perfectionism, overthinking, emotional reactions or the pressure of constantly holding everything together are taking too much from your life.

And you don't need to arrive knowing whether you need EMDR, somatic therapy, talking therapy or something else.

That's my job

Neurodivergent and ADHD-Affirming Therapy

If you have ADHD, autism, dyslexia or another neurodivergence diagnosed or otherwise, this adds another important layer to understand.

Not everything is a trauma response, and neurodivergence isn't something I believe needs to be fixed.

We'll look at what is part of the way your brain naturally works, what your nervous system has learned through stress, relationships and past experiences, and where the two interact.

Repeatedly trying to force yourself towards strategies that don't fit the way your brain works leaves you feeling as though you're the problem.

My approach works with the way your individual brain and nervous system are wired, rather than trying to make you function like somebody else.

Start with a Specialist Therapy Assessment

All therapy with me begins with an in-depth Specialist Therapy Assessment £147. This gives us the time to properly understand what is happening for you, rather than jumping straight into trying to fix it.

We'll explore what you're struggling with now, the patterns you keep finding yourself caught in, what you've already tried and what you want to be different.

I'll begin bringing the different pieces together your experiences, relationships, nervous system, emotional responses and, where relevant, neurodivergence so we can understand what's keeping you stuck and what we need to work with.

You don't need to know what type of therapy you need or which way of working will suit you best. That's part of my job. Please allow up to 90 minutes for your assessment.

Specialist Therapy Assessment: £147

Available in person in Cheshire and online across the UK.

What happens after your assessment?

If we decide that I'm the right therapist for you, I'll recommend the way of working that best fits what you need. Both of my specialist therapy pathways sit within The Regulated Self my approach to helping you move beyond constantly managing anxiety, overwhelm and survival responses towards understanding and working with your individual nervous system.

And by regulated, I don't mean being calm all the time. Life will still be stressful. You'll still get angry, upset, excited and overwhelmed. You'll still have days when everything feels like too much.

Regulation is about having greater flexibility and capacity being able to experience life's pressures and emotions without your nervous system continually pulling you into the same old survival patterns.

The aim isn't to turn you into a different person. It's to give you more capacity for your relationships, your work, your creativity and the rest of the life you've built.

The Regulated Self Intensive

For people who are ready for focused, structured therapeutic work around the patterns having the biggest impact on their life.

We'll work together through six 90-minute sessions, giving us the time to go beyond talking about what's happening and work with the thoughts, emotions, nervous system responses and embodied patterns involved.

I'll draw on my Somatic Person-Centred Method™, EMDR and over a decade of therapeutic experience to adapt the work to what your individual system needs.

This isn't a rigid six-step programme where everybody receives the same intervention. The structure holds the work. The therapy is individual to you.

The Regulated Self Intensive: £1,497 or three payments of £597

The Regulated Self Monthly

For people who want the continuity and depth of a longer-term therapeutic relationship.

This gives us the space to work with complex or interconnected difficulties without squeezing the work into a predetermined programme.

We work with direction and purpose while responding to what's happening in your life and what emerges through the therapeutic process.

The Regulated Self Monthly: £450 per month (can cancel at any time)

Which therapy option is right for me?

You don't need to decide before you contact me.

That's one of the reasons we start with an assessment.

I'll explain what I believe we need to work with, recommend the approach that best fits you and talk you through your options.

If I'm not the right therapist for what you need, I'll tell you that too. Your first step is simply to book your assessment.
